What I Watched: February 2018 + Update.

February, even though it was a shit month and took its toll on me, was a fabulous month for movie watching. The cold nights and my resistance to leaving the house has had me watching some pretty rad movies if I do say so myself. So let's crack on with

What I Watched in February 2018.

THE WEDDING DATE:
I saw this movie when it was released over ten years ago. I remember going to the cinema to see it with my Mum (we both adored Will & Grace) and being mortified during the 'on the boat sex' scene. Keeping in mind I was about 12 at the time. I adore this film. I adore Debra Messing. I adore the odd British-ness of this movie and I think it's worth a watch for sure.

WITHOUT A PADDLE:
I was obsessed with this movie for a few weeks when it came out on DVD and watched it all the time. Looking back now I'm not sure why, ha! I do still like this movie though, I must admit, I think it's a fun, slapstick-y sort of film you'd pop on on a Sunday when the telly was shit.

GET SMART:
Unlike nearly everyone on Tumblr, I know Steve Carrell from this movie, not The Office. I adore movies like this because they're so easy to just put on and watch without having to really think for 90 minutes. I think Steve Carrell is a comedic genius, I adore him. AIN'T NO OTHER MANNN!

KINGSMAN 2: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE.
I saw this back in September when it came out because I LOVE the first movie. I adore Taron and Colin. Even though *ducks* I prefer the first one to the sequel I still think this will be on repeat for a long time because it's funny as fuck and also at some points makes me want to crawl into the corner and sob.

A BIGGER SPLASH.
*disclaimer - my obsession with Dakota Johnson got a little OTT this month*
This movie stars the beautiful Dakota Johnson and that's why I watched it to be totally honest. I didn't know what to expect at all and even though the ending pissed me the fuck off (the fuck was that??!!) I did enjoy this movie to a point. About an hour, maybe. Voldemort was the best part.

FOR RICHER OR POORER.
Alex randomly mentioned this movie one night and said he'd had it on tape as a kid so reveling in this new information from my boys' childhood I popped it on and gave it a watch. I adored Kirsty Alley and Tim Allen growing up, so I knew I'd like it and I DID! More so than I thought I would. Definitely, think it's worth a watch if you're bored on a weekend.

BREAKING THE BANK.
This was just a random watch for me and Alex when we were bored. NowTV (which I think is wank) had just put it on as 'a new film' even though it's been out a few years and so we popped it on because it had Frasier in it. It wasn't anything amazing but I enjoyed it.

FIFTY SHADES FREED.
I love these movies, I don't care what anyone says. Each to their own. Twilight was my guilty pleasure when I was a teen, these are my adult ones. This one is probably my favourite of the series. I'm a bit pissed off that it only got an hour and a half full release as the others were around two hours and this definitely could've benefited with some scenes being a bit longer (not them ones). I love Dakota and I love Jamie. They are both amazing actors, but MY GOD, how they made this script work I don't know. Even so, FIFTY SHADES, WOOO!

CHLOE & THEO.
Starring DJ, I popped this on not expecting anything exciting considering the summary of it on IMDB, but I was really surprised how much I liked this. It takes a while to take off and it could've had a bit longer to build to the end, but it's a nice little movie and has a good point to it. We should all be more considerate of what we're doing to the planet we live on.

LADY BIRD.
After all the hype...I had to give it a watch and honestly....I'm not sure why it's having so much attention. Like, I enjoyed it a lot and I love that Ladybird knows who she is and what she wants and I wish I was her, but then when you take a step back and look at the movie for what it is....it's nothing special. Saoirse did an amazing job, but again, that fucking ending did me. Just why??

What have you been watching lately? Any recs?
